We offer a new world of folded products, based on a new science of industrial origami. The products range from structural cores similar to honeycomb to pop-up displays and beautifully pleated packaging.  Our proprietary software designs tessellation patterns that fold into intricate structures for customization to fulfill a variety of needs. We have also developed lab-scale batch and continuous processes for folding papers, composites and light metals into the folded tessellations products.

Hardware: Foldstar has developed patented CNC fabrication equipment to support mass production and mass customization of folded patterns. Machines may be licensed or deployed as part of microfactories or larger manufacturing processes.

What is folding?:

Folding is the process of taking a flat sheet of material and creasing it along lines that make up a tessellation. This process combines the flexibility of 3D Printing with the economy and speed of traditional fabrication using sheet materials and is the most efficient method to create unique patterns, devices, and structures via low-cost manufacturing.
